Inclusion, equality and transnationality in education

Inclusion and equality are cornerstones of education. The ongoing global educational changes mean it must be seen as transcending cultural, social, and material boundaries. FERA Conference on Education 2024 invites us to discuss new research and build a critical understanding of issues of inclusion and equity across borders.

Abstract submission

We welcome paper presentations related to the conference theme ”Inclusion, Equality, and Transnationalism in Education.” Please see the thematic groups here. Abstract proposals must be submitted via the Oxford Abstracts submission system between August 12 and September 19, 2024 (extended deadline!).

On the abstract submission form, please fill in the following information:

Title (max. 100 characters), in sentence case (not all caps)
Authors and their affiliations (institution, city and country), email for the presenting author
Keywords (2-5)
Abstract body text (max. 2500 characters) including the following sections:
▪ Research background
▪ Theoretical framework
▪ Research questions
▪ Methods/methodology
▪ Results and conclusions
▪ A few key references
Choose the relevent thematic group/symposium from the dropdown lists

Thematic group leaders will review the abstracts submitted to their respective groups. Submitters will be be informed via email by October 7, 2024 (new date) whether or not the proposal has been accepted. Accepted abstracts will be published on the event’s website (online programme and PDF book of abstracts) before the conference begins. All accepted abstracts are presented onsite in Turku during the conference days.

Please note: the presenter must register as a conference participant and pay the participation fee by October 25.

General abstract submission guidelines

Abstracts are submitted via the Oxford Abstracts online submission system. Register to Oxford Abstracts to submit (submission button below).
You may amend your submission until the final submission deadline.
Remember to complete the abstract and answer all the required questions before the deadline, uncompleted abstracts will not be reviewed.
The abstract should be written in English, Finnish or Swedish.
Please proofread your text carefully.
Do not include tables or images.

Registration fees include attendance in the programme and coffee and lunch on the conference days as marked in the programme. Possibility to join the conference Evening party at VPK:n talo on Thursday, 21.11, tickets sold separately (20 € per ticket).
Possibility to participate in the pre-seminars on Wednesday, 20 November 2024.
Pre-seminars are free of charge, except for the Celebration Seminar of Teacher Education evening party, to which tickets cost 65 €/ticket. If you are not participating the Fera conference, but wish to attend the evening party, please choose the registration option ”Dinner party of the Celebration Seminar of Teacher Education only”.

Member fees are for the members of The Finnish Educational Research Association (FERA). More information about the membership can be found on FERA’s website.

Please contact aboaevents@certia.fi promptly in case you must cancel your participation after registration (please see terms of cancellation below).

Confirmation of registration

You will receive a confirmation email once you have submitted your registration. If you do not receive confirmation, check your spam folder just in case. You may also contact aboaevents@certia.fi in case of any problems or questions regarding registration or payment.

Registration has ended.

Cancellation policy and insurance

Cancellations must be done before 24.10.2024 by writing an email to aboaevents@certia.fi. After this date, fees will not be returned. A processing fee of 50 EUR will be deducted from all refunds.

In the event that the meeting is cancelled by the Meeting Organisers, or cannot take place for any reason outside the control of the Meeting Organisers, the registration fee shall be refunded in full. The liability of the Meeting Organiser shall be limited to that refund. If ordered by authorities, the event can be turned into a virtual event.

Participants are not insured on behalf of the organizers (travel, health, accident or liability insurance). Participants are advised to check the validity of their insurance policies.

Payment methods

After filling in the participation information, the payment method is selected on the form. You may pay the participation fee by:

1) Credit card

2) Online bank payment (for Finnish/Nordic banks only)

3) E-invoice (for Finnish organizations only), terms of payment 14 days net. A payment method fee of 15.00 EUR will be added.

4) PDF invoice (the invoice will be sent to participant’s email, payment will be made by bank transfer). Terms of payment 14 days net, a payment method fee of 15.00 EUR will be added.

Certia Oy Aboa Events (business ID 2327422-3) invoices the participation fees for the event on behalf of the local organizer, the University of Turku (business ID 0245896-3). Paytrail Oyj (2122839-7) operates as the payment intermediary service provider in cooperation with Finnish banks and credit institutions. Paytrail Oyj has a payment institution license. Paytrail Oyj appears as the recipient of the payment on the bank statement or card invoice and forwards the payment to the organizer of the event. In case of reclamation, please contact the event organizer.

Please note! The payment method cannot be changed afterwards. If you choose an E-invoice or PDF invoice as the payment method, please make sure that you enter the billing information correctly. We always charge EUR 10 for changes made to the invoice afterwards. Please also note that the invoice must be paid by the start of the FERA Conference on Education 2024.
